In a move that pairs generosity with a firm ultimatum, Washington has vowed $2 billion for UN humanitarian operations. Yet, this contribution was accompanied by a direct message for the international body: it must "evolve or perish."
A Major Pledge Amid Broader Budget Reductions
This commitment was made against a backdrop of significant reductions in US support of humanitarian operations. Further cuts are expected from other major contributors such as European nations.
